Powerball

Powerball is a multi-jurisdictional lottery game played in the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C. Drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

To play Powerball, players must select five white balls from a pool of 69 and one red Powerball from a pool of 26. To win the jackpot, all five white balls and the Powerball must match the numbers drawn. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. If there is no jackpot winner, the jackpot rolls over to the next drawing.

 The jackpot can continue to roll over until it is won. The largest Powerball jackpot ever won was $2.04 billion in November 2022. In addition to the jackpot, there are nine other prize levels in Powerball. Players can win prizes by matching as few as two white balls or the Powerball alone. How to play Powerball To play Powerball, you must purchase a ticket from a licensed lottery retailer. Tickets cost $2 per play. You can choose your own numbers or have the computer choose them for you. Once you have purchased your ticket, mark the five white balls and one red Powerball that you want to play. You can also choose to play the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play. Power Play can multiply your non-jackpot winnings by up to 10 times. Claiming a prize If you win a prize in Powerball, you must sign the back of your ticket and claim your prize within a certain period of time, which varies by state. You can claim your prize at any licensed lottery retailer or by mail. If you win the jackpot, you will have the option to receive your winnings in a lump sum or in 30 annual installments.
